How To Use Refill Products
Thank you for supporting refill and a circular economy! When you choose to refill, you are removing plastic from the waste stream, keeping things in use longer (resulting in less waste), and getting biodegradable products with lots of active ingredients (meaning you save money too!).
Here is a quick How To Guide + best practices for using our most popular refill products.
Rustic Strength's Dish Soap
Scrape off food. Fill sink with clean, warm water and add a pump of dish soap to the running water. Scrub the dishes under the water and then rinse off the suds. Towel dry or leave on clean, drying rack.
Alternatively, scrape off food. Add one pump of dish soap to brush or sponge. Scrub all dishes in sink with the water off, then rinse. Towel dry or leave in drying rack.
This soap is concentrated, so a little goes a long way (and so does a little water).
Rustic Strength's Liquid Laundry Detergent
Add approximately:
1/2 oz light soiled / small load
1 oz activewear / medium load
2 oz heavy soiled / large load
to washer.
Do not overfill washer. It is best to work with a medium size load and about 1 oz of detergent.
If you have lots of bubbles in your washing machine, decrease how much detergent you use.
Septic and graywater safe.
You can also apply a small amount of detergent directly to garments for stain removal.

Rustic Strength's Hand Soap
Wet your hands with clean, running water. Apply a small amount of hand soap. Lather the soap by rubbing hands together. Scrub for at least 20 seconds. Rinse hands well. Dry hands using a clean, dry towel.
Meliora's Laundry Powder
How much Laundry Powder you should use depends on your washing machine and the size and soil level of the load you’re washing. Start with 1/2 tablespoon if you have a high-efficiency (HE) washer or 1 tablespoon if you have a standard (non-HE) machine. This is based on a typical washing machine size of approximately 3.1–4 cubic feet and a load size of about 12–16 pounds.
Tips: Add powder directly to the washing machine drum before adding in clothing to ensure powder activation.
Use warm water, especially during winter, to ensure proper cleaning.
